Running isn’t easy, especially if you haven’t done it before. When it comes to running, runners want to be as convenient as possible. Here are a few little hacks and tips that can make your running life easier.

1. Sleep in Your Running Clothes

Are you a morning runner? Or do you want to become one? Sometimes the hardest part of running is getting started. If you’re planning to run early in the morning, try sleeping in your running clothes to save you more time. We know it may be a bit uncomfortable at first but this will help you avoid laying in bed and start running as early as you can.

 2. Schedule Your Run into Your Day

We’re all busy with our lives. Often, your running plans will always be the first thing to be sacrificed. To avoid that, schedule your whole day and think of where to fit running into your schedule. When you’re more organized, you can make the most out of your time and you’ll be able to fit running into your schedule. If you’re just starting out, set out 15 minutes of your time dedicated to running for a week and gradually increase afterwards. You could also think of ways on how to multitask, for example – if your local grocery shop is near you, instead of driving just bring a foldable trolley and run your way to the shop.

3. Join a Running Event

Committing to a race will require you to spend some money but that’s the whole point. When you invest in something, you make sure that your money doesn’t go to waste. Joining a running event will give you something to look forward to and will motivate you to train hard to make sure you’re prepared for the event. Look for an event where they offer a reward such whether it’s a medal, a finisher t-shirt, a fun atmosphere or a route with gorgeous views. Luckily, we know the best running events in Dubai that offer all those rewards that we’ve just mentioned.

  • The Mai Dubai City Half Marathon

4. Listen to Upbeat Music

Studies have shown that music actually helps while running and working out. This is why a lot of runners can’t make it through a run without a pair of headphones or earbuds. Don’t just choose any song, create a running playlist that includes tunes that are upbeat ideally above 120 BPM to keep you motivated and excited while running.

5. Create Incentives

Don’t forget to reward yourself for your hard work. Every time you run or accomplish a goal, try to reward yourself – it doesn’t matter if it’s a small or big treat. Whether it is a new running gear, a massage, or a bar of chocolate, treating yourself will make you feel more energized and will reinforce your commitment to your training.

6. Focus on Quality not Quantity

It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of running and try to increase your mileage every time. Although there’s nothing wrong with aiming high, always remember that quality miles always wins over quantity. Make sure that every run has a purpose and most importantly – make sure you enjoy every minute of it. However, if you’re already used to long distances then it’s always best to challenge yourself here and there. The Mai Dubai City Half Marathon occurs in Dubai every year wherein runners can join for a 5km, 10km and 21km – stay tuned to know the date of the next Mai Dubai City Half Marathon.

7. Put Your Keys on Your Shoelace

There’s nothing more annoying than having to bring so many things while running. Try to unlace the tip eyelets of your shoe and slip the key into your shoelace and tuck it under the rest of the lace. A lot of runners do this trick to avoid having the need to carry a small bag just for their keys.

8. Get Fun Workout Gear

We all can’t deny that wearing brand new or fun workout clothes make us feel good and powerful. So if you’ve been eyeing on a new pair of running shoes, tank top, shorts or whatever – stop hesitating and buy it now. Wear it during your run and it will make you become more confident and motivated during your run.

9. Lastly, have fun!

It’s hard to run when you’re not enjoying it. Figure out the way you enjoy running and stick with it. Take a break when you need to, go with your choices of exercise, be a part of a running community, or join some of the best running events in Dubai.
