Just a few more weeks before the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon! We know you’re as excited as we are which is why we’ve prepared this short blog to give you tips on how to enjoy and make the most of your Mai Dubai City Half Marathon experience.
13.1 miles can seem like a long time to run but having a running partner and having someone by your side during the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon will definitely make your experience more enjoyable! Invite your family and friends to the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon and run with each other to keep your spirits up and encourage one another.
It’s critical to fuel your body before the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon. Eat high carbohydrate meals (80% of intake) for several days before the race to build up your store of glycogen which is a crucial energy source for your body. We also suggest eating a 500-800 calorie breakfast 2 to 3 hours before the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon and only eating food that worked well during your training sessions.
On the day of the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon – run the first 10 percent of the race slower than you normally would with the idea that you’ll finish strong. Don’t try to go faster than your goal pace. If you do that, you’ll risk burning out early. Try to keep an even pace throughout the race and save your extra energy for the final stretch to the finish.
If you want to go faster and stronger at the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon, you need to think about your form. When you see that finish line or even just want to slightly pick up the pace, think about picking your knees up higher off the ground. The higher you pick the knees up the faster you will go since you will be pushing more force into the ground.
The same goes for your arms. If you are running a half marathon in Dubai and focusing on the distance you will want to reduce the amount of that arm swing so that you are barely moving it and keeping it in towards the center of your body.
We’re not saying that you should overdress for the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon. A good rule of thumb is to dress as if it’s 15 degrees warmer than it really is. Your body will warm up at least by that much while running. To keep warm before the start of the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon, wear some old sweats at the start.
During your training, it helps to know what to expect in terms of hills and elevations on the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon. This will help you identify at which point you’ll need to conserve energy. Hours before the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon – you should also go over your plan again to know where the water stops will be situated so you can hydrate accordingly.
