To elevate the thrill and add a dash of camaraderie, we’re thrilled to announce a brand-new addition to the City Half Marathon experience – the Relay Challenge!

For the 21km category, not only can you conquer the route solo, but you can also form a dynamic team of four to share the excitement.

If you’re opting for the 10km run, grab a partner and create a dynamic duo as teams of two take on the course together.

What is the date and time of the race?

The City Half Marathon at Yas Island Abu Dhabi will be held on Sunday, 21st April 2024

Start timings for the race:

  • 21km Individual and 21km relay race – 06:00
  • 10km Individual and 10km relay race – 06:10
  • 5km – 06:15

What are the race categories?

  • 21km Individual (4 loops)
  • 21km Relay Race (4 runners)
  • 10km Individual (2 loops)
  • 10km Relay Race (2 runners)
  • 5km (1 loop)

What are the race distances available in the relay race and how does it work?

In a relay race, there are two race distances you can choose: 21KM and 10KM

  • For the 21KM relay:
    “You’ll need a team of 4 runners
    “The first runner runs 6.1km (5km + 1km additional loop), while the other three runners each run 5km
  • For the 10KM relay:
    “You’ll need a team 2 runners
    “Each runner covers 5km

Here’s how the relay works:

  • The first runner starts at the start/finish line
  • The second runner waits in the pen area until the first runner finishes their part
  • When the first runner reaches the pen area, the second runner starts their race
  • This process repeats for the third and fourth runners in the 21KM race
  • The last runner finishes at the start/finish line

What is the route?

Experience the captivating City Half Marathon at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, as you navigate a scenic 5km loop along the picturesque waterfront, passing by the iconic Etihad Arena. Whether you opt for the 5km, 10km, or the challenging 21km half marathon, the route offers delightful attractions and a secure environment. Clear markers and no traffic concerns enhance the safety of the course. Dedicated event marshals are strategically stationed to assist with crossing points, prioritizing your safety during the run.

PLEASE NOTE ALL PARTICIPANTS IN THE 21KM DISTANCE CATEGORY ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AN ADDITIONAL SHORT LOOP DURING THEIR FIRST LAP

Where do I collect my race pack?

Race pack collection will be on the day of the race on Sunday, 21st April at the event village from 04:30

Race pack collection closes 10 minutes before the start of your race

What is the minimum age to run at the City Half Marathon at Yas Island?

Participants must be at least 16 years old to participate in the 21km race of the City Half Marathon at Yas Island. For the 10km the minimum age requirement is 10 years and above and the 5km race is 6 years and above.

Where does the race start and finish?

The City Half Marathon at Yas Island will start and finish near Etihad Arena at the Yas Bay Waterfront

Where do I park my vehicle?

Car parking will be available at Yas Bay Waterfront P1 Parking. Please look out for parking signs and marshals who will guide you to the parking area

Coming from Dubai?

Jump on one of our complimentary buses departing from three locations (Dubai Marina, Dubai Mall and Burjuman) for the trip to Yas Island.

Can I change the distance on the day?

You must start in the distance that you have entered.

Out on the race route?

The route will be traffic-free and will be well sign posted to ensure that you can have the most enjoyable run possible.

Event staff will be located across the race route. If you need any assistance while on the route, please alert one of the staff members

How fast do I have to run?

Entrants in the 21km event must be able to complete the full distance within 3 hours. Runners who have not started their last lap by 8:15 AM will be directed to the finish line.

Is there water available?

Yes, water is a must! Water will be available for all runners at the start/finish area. The water stations points in the race routes have been mentioned below:

  • Water Station 1 – 1.25km 
  • Water Station 2 – 2.5km 
  • Water Station 3 – 3.75km

Will there be bag drop facilities?

We have baggage drop facilities available near the start and finish area. Please note that we recommend only leaving essential items and valuables. The organizers will not be responsible for any loss or damage to items left in the baggage area.

Do I get a medal and T-shirt?

Yes, your hard work will be rewarded! Everyone who finishes their race distance will receive a City Half Marathon at Yas Island finisher medal and an official souvenir T-shirt. Please take the T-shirt size that you requested when you registered for the event.

Will there be any refreshments available after the race?

Yes, all runners will be provided with refreshments.

Will there be medical assistance available?

Ambulance and medical cover will be present at the event. If you need any assistance please contact a marshal.
